| Shaw sweeps JC Smith in doubleheader |

RALEIGH – The Shaw women's basketball team held Johnson C. Smith to just 16.7% from beyond the arc on the way to a 72-66 victory Wednesday, breaking a three-game losing streak.
The Bears (8-13, 6-8) had three players in double figures, led by Leasia Matthews’ 19 points and four steals. D'Ayzha Atkinson added 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals, and Arianna Lopez chipped in 11 points and two steals off the bench.
Atkinson pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead an offense that grabbed 14 boards and turning them into 11 second-chance points. Shaw did a great job disrupting Smith’s shots in the contest, coming away with nine blocks. Mahogany Collins led the way individually with six rejections.

Shaw duo powers men to win
Dreveon Scott scored 24 points and Avery Huggins added 23 to lead the men past the Golden Bulls 80-76. Isaiah Buckley helped out with 15 points and four steals.
Shaw’s defense forced 17 turnovers while committing 12. Those takeaways turned into 20 points. Buckley's four steals led the way individually for the Bears.
Shaw never trailed in the second half on its way to victory. Scott, Huggins, and Buckley accounted for 78% of the Bears points. Shaw got a game-high 13 rebounds from Alijah England.
The teams travel to Winston-Salem State this weekend for a division matchup.
