Former defensive lineman Kelvin Broadhurst Jr. died in a motorcycle accident last weekend after crashing along I-40.

Police reported Broadhurst, 20, was taking the ramp to US 29 South late in the afternoon when he lost control, hit a guardrail and was thrown from the motorcycle. He died at the scene.

Broadhurst was an electrical engineering major.

“I was planning his 21^st birthday and it just seemed unreal cause now I’m having to plan his funeral,” Broadhurst’s mother, Latoya Lyles, told WCNC Charlotte.
