UMES historic season ends in WNIT second round

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore was the last HBCU Division I team standing in the postseason.

The Hawks saw their historic postseason run come to an end with a 66-42 loss to Youngstown State in the second round of the WNIT.

Brianna Barnes led the Hawks with 14 points. Dakieran Turner recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Desi Taylor and Ashanti Lynch each added five points, while Kalise Hill contributed four points and two assists.

UMES concludes its season with a 20-15 overall record, highlighted by the program’s first postseason victory and a new single-season record for wins.
