For the first time in 24 years, Shaw will have a new women’s basketball coach. Jacques Curtis, the winningest coach in program history, announced his retirement this week.
Curtis won over 400 games and nine CIAA championships. His teams appeared in 11 NCAA Tournaments and won it all in 2012, the first and only DII national championship in program history. The Bears last CIAA championship was in 2014, its fourth straight title.
Associate head coach Lou Hamilton has been promoted to interim for the upcoming season. The university released a statement saying a national search will begin at the conclusion of the season.
