NCCU wins MEAC-SWAC Challenge
Redshirt senior running back Chris Mosley, above, rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown to lead North Carolina Central to a 31-14 win over Southern in Saturday night’s MEAC-SWAC Challenge in Atlanta.
The victory keeps NCCU coach Trei Oliver’s unbeaten win streak alive in bowls and classics and a 2-0 series over Southern.

Both teams were effective on the ground: Eagles rushed for 231 total yards, Southern for 250, led by Troy Holly’s 116 yards on 10 carries.
After trailing 14-10 in the second quarter, NCCU’s defense held the Jaguars scoreless the rest of the game.
Junior defensive lineman Thomas Johnson led the Eagles with seven total tackles (four solo), two tackles for loss, one breakup and one forced fumble.
