I am only two years away before I retired as a NC teacher. My plans are to leave NC as soon as I retired. I will not live and support a state in which it's politician have failed to support education. They say they care - yet the money that they have put in education is inadequate. Who can blame teachers leaving so they can paid a salary that they can live on. I know if things do not change quickly then NC will be in dire need for teachers.

I retired in Virginia and moved to NC where I currently teach. If it wasn't for my VA retirement benefits, I could not financially survive on my NC salary. Eight teachers left my school this past school year, with only one due to retirement. If NC doesn't pay it's teachers better, there will be a dire teacher shortage or there will be teachers in the classroom who are not qualified - hired simply to fill positions!
