Athens Drive alumnus and Paralympic record holder Lex Gillette has signed with Alexander Mann Solutions.
Alexander Mann is a leading provider of talent acquisition and management services. Gillette, a track and field athlete, is a record holder in the long jump.
“When we looked for the newest member of Team AMS, we wanted someone just like Lex who champions our values as an organization,” CEO and Founder Rosaleen Blair said. “His passion and strong will to succeed are an inspiration to everyone he meets. We’re excited to have Lex represent Team AMS as he continues his winning ways and shares his personal story with our employees and clients.”
Gillette began to lose his sight at the age of 8 due to recurrent retina detachments. Despite 10 operations, doctors could not save his sight.
But the disability didn’t deter Gillette on the track. He won a silver medal in the long jump at the 2004 Paralympic Games. Since then, he has medaled at every major international competition to date. In addition to the long jump record, where he’s the only blind athlete to eclipse the 22-foot barrier – Gillette is also a 14-time national champion.
“I’m thrilled to join Team AMS,” he said. “This sponsorship not only provides me with the support I need to train and compete at the highest level, it gives me a great opportunity to reach out and help more people to overcome whatever challenges they may face in their personal or professional lives.”
Gillette is in training for the 2016 Paralympic Games, where he aims to make his fourth consecutive U.S. Paralympic team.
