Gone Pro: North Carolina

By Tim Jackson

Clerisy Press, $17.95 PB

With college football season just seven weeks away, University of North Carolina fans are already anticipating the Aug. 30 kickoff vs. Liberty University.

To get focused on UNC football, Jackson offers his list of the 10 best seasons in Carolina history. The countdown starts June 24 with a weekly “best season” every Tuesday through Aug. 26.

Gone Pro: North Carolina provides a comprehensive look at the University of North Carolina athletes who made it to the top of their professions, including all the big names from recent generations featuring sports superstars such as Vince Carter, Mia Hamm, Michael Jordan, B. J. Surhoff and Lawrence Taylor.

The Gone Pro series aims to answer the "where are they now" question for college athletes. More than just a series of stats, these books provide a look at the personal and professional life of university favorites as well as those less known.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Jackson has worked as a full-time employee for Southern Living, Cooking Light, and Canoe & Kayak magazines as well as at Radford University. Now based in Asheville, he has done extensive freelance writing and editing.
