Ayanna Albertson
Goldsboro native and Durham resident Ayanna Albertson has been crowned the second best woman poet in the world after competing at the 2020 Women of the World Poetry Slam in Dallas. An annual event running from March 5-7, WOWPS is a poetry slam competition consisting of over 90 of the best women poets in the world. After two days of giving her all, Albertson did not believe she had made the final stage list, but was beyond pleased with her performance in the competition. To her surprise, she received an email notifying her that she did, indeed, make the final stage.
