St. Aug's Chavous fired

St. Augustine’s football coach Tim Chavous tweeted just a few hours ago that he had been fired “as of 4:05 p.m.”

Chavous is not going away quietly, either. Saying in his tweet: “JUST GOT FIRED FROM SAU UNIVERSITY TODAY AT 4:09PM BECAUSE MY A.D. GEORGE WILLIAMS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIM NOT DOING HIS A.D. DUTIES BUT THEY NEEDED AN ESCAPE GOAT BECAUSE HIS… https://t.co/qI06UfTFzV.

The rest of the tweet was on Facebook, but the comment is no longer there. Nor is the tweet.

Chavous boldly announced at the CIAA Media Day that “this is the best recruiting class I’ve ever had.” Yet the Falcons are 0-3 after being outscored 148-21.

Chavous, who also had an entirely new coaching staff, had his best season as head coach in 2017 when the Falcons finished 5-5. No official word from St. Aug’s and Chavous photo is still up on the website. The Falcons travel to Bowie State on Saturday.
