Fifteen high-school student-athletes are the finalists for the Bill Dooley Scholar-Athlete Award, which recognizes the top football senior within the Dooley Chapter’s geographical region: Durham, Orange, Pitt and Wake counties. The list will be whittled down to five on April 17 and the winner announced on April 24. The award recipient will receive a $10,000 scholarship and recognition at the Pigskin Preview on July 19 at Embassy Suites in Cary. The other four finalists each get a $2,000 scholarship.

UPDATE:  The list has been trimmed to five: Guentensberger, Jones II, Madzivanyika, Pasour and Sanchez.

Black Lives Matter. The Durham Bulls will celebrate African American Heritage Night during its game against Gwinnett Stripers, April 20, 6:30 p.m. at the Park. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Bimbe' Cultural Arts Festival on May 18. Purchase tickets at https://groupmatics.events/event/Bimbe50, for proceeds to benefit Bimbe’.
