MEAC Tournament

Posted by: Editor-Bonitta Best on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 12:00:00 am

The MEAC Tournament seedings are set.

On the women’ side, North Carolina A&T is the top seed after finishing the regular season 16-0. Maryland Eastern Shore is No. 2. Both teams have first-round byes.

Games start Monday with No. 5 Howard vs. No. 12 Florida A&M at 1 p.m., followed by No. 6 Morgan State vs. No. 11 Coppin State at 3:30 p.m.

On the men’s side, Norfolk State takes the No. 1 seed for the first time since the 2012-13 season. That year the Spartans were 16-0 with a player by the name of Kyle O’Quinn. By winning the  regular-season title, NSU automatically qualifies for the NIT but, of course, like all teams, they want a shot at the Big Dance, which will only happen if they win the conference tourney.

No. 6 seed Savannah State vs. No. 11 Delaware State will open the men’s tourney on Monday at 6 p.m.

All preliminary games will be live streamed on FloHoops. If you’re too cheap to pay like me, live stats will be available on the MEAC’s website.
