St. Aug's vs. Shaw women

St. Augustine’s women broke a streak dating back to 2009.

The Falcons defeated Shaw in Spaulding Gymnasium for the first time in 10 seasons. After giving up a lead that it held for most of the game, St. Aug’s outscored the Bears 14-9 in overtime for an 85-80 win.

Despite being outsized, the scrappy Falcons outrebounded Shaw 42-40. Angela Caraballo came off the bench to score a team-high 28 points, including 16 in the first half. Six-foot-4 center Macy Keen recorded a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds for Shaw, but was 2-for-7 from the free throw line. The Bears were 6 of 17 for the game, including 1 of 6 in overtime.

St. Aug’s led by as many as 19 in the second period before Shaw rallied to take a five-point lead with 3:28 left in the game. The Bears dominated in the paint, outscoring St. Aug’s 46-28, but the Falcons had a 41-25 advantage off turnovers.
